The lessons

What you'll work through.

  1. Find the hours: a 15-minute time auditBefore you automate anything, find out where your week actually goes. A quick, do-it-now audit that points you straight at the jobs worth removing first.
  2. Invoice reminders on autopilotThe fastest money for the least effort. Build a polite, firm reminder sequence in your accounting software so late invoices chase themselves and your cash flow stops paying for your good manners.
  3. Missed-call text-backWhen you cannot answer, the caller rings the next name on the list. An automatic text back buys you the time to call them, and usually wins the job.
  4. Stop retyping the same emailA third of your inbox is the same handful of questions. Set up saved replies, then AI-drafted responses in your own voice, so you approve instead of type.
  5. Kill the booking back-and-forthCalendar tennis loses appointments. A booking link that shows your real availability lets people pick a slot in seconds, with confirmations and reminders sent automatically.
  6. Automate the ask for reviewsReviews are the cheapest marketing you own, and the only reason you have too few is that asking is awkward and easy to forget. Automate the ask and both problems disappear.Quick check
  7. The glue: connect your toolsWhen your tools cannot talk to each other, you become the glue, copying things across by hand. Zapier and Make are the glue instead. Build one real when-this-do-that and you'll get the idea for good.
  8. Decide what's worth itNot every automation is worth building. A simple way to put a pound value on a job, weigh it against the setup effort, and get a clear go or no-go before you spend an afternoon on it.
  9. Roll it out without breaking thingsThe safe way to put your automations live: one at a time, tested, watched for a fortnight, with a person still checking anything that touches a customer. Plus where to go next.
